Cincinnatus loses tough senior night match vs. Sandy Creek; Caitlyn St. Germain reaches 1,000 assists milestone (photos included)

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions lost a tough match against Sandy Creek on senior night after four sets Tuesday night. 

This was Cincinnatus’ first loss of the regular season, bringing their record down to 7-1 overall. 

However, during the match, Cincinnatus senior Caitlyn St. Germain reached 1,000 career assists.

When asked about how she felt about reaching the 1,000 assists milestone, Caitlyn St. Germain said, “It feels great. I am just so happy that it landed on this night.” 

“I love all of my coaches and teammates for making this such a special night.” Caitlyn added. “Not only for senior night, but also for me reaching 1,000 assists. I had no idea what they would be doing to celebrate this, so it really made me feel special. I also want to thank my sister (Allyson St. Germain). She has been through it all with me the entire time.”

According to Caitlyn, this is her second year playing in Cincinnatus, as she started her varsity career at Southern Florida. 

A total of four seniors were also honored at last night’s senior night match (Jadyn Lang, Shannon Ryan, Kaires Raymond, and Caitlyn St. Germain).

Throughout last night’s match, Cincinnatus was led by Allyson St. Germain (14 kills, 17 digs, 1 assist & 1 ace), Caitlyn St. Germain (24 assists, 11 digs, 3 kills & 3 aces), and Shannon Ryan (2 kills & 6 service points). 

Note: individual stats for Sandy Creek were not made available by the time this article was written.

“We did not play our best, and Sandy Creek took advantage of us being literally on our heels,” said Cincinnatus Head Coach Teresa Merihew. “We know what we need to work on for our next matches and our next time we play Sandy Creek.”

Up next, Cincinnatus will look to bounce back against DeRuyter on the road this Friday (January 13th) at 7pm.
