Clouds will stream in ahead of a late week weather system, but it will stay dry today.

If there is any sunshine today, it will come during the first half of the morning. During this time, lingering lake effect clouds will diminish as the new clouds build in. This will provide a small and easily missed window for a little sun.

Otherwise, the day will be cloudy with decreasing amounts of filtered sun able to shine through the thickening overcast. Clouds will remain in place for the overnight.

No precipitation is expected until perhaps right before dawn on Thursday, when some flurries or freezing rain showers move in. A few places may be a little slick early Thursday.

Winds today will be from the south-southeast. During the day, wind speeds will be around 5 mph. Late in the afternoon and into the evening, wind speeds will increase to around 10 mph. Gusts over 20 mph will be possible during the night, especially in the hills of the northern part of the county.

Temperatures will reach a high in the upper 30s this afternoon, then drop back to around 30 degrees this evening. Overnight lows will end up in the upper 20s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Thursday: Snow showers early, turning to rain showers. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs around 40.

Friday: Rain showers, mostly during the morning. Nighttime flurries. Morning lows around 40. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Saturday: Scattered snow showers. Morning lows in the low 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid and upper 20s.

Sunday: Sun and a few clouds. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs in the low 30s.
