Cortland County man chokes and leaves victim behind on a road

A Cortland County man was arrested last week after he allegedly choked and “engaged in a physical altercation” with a victim, according to a Cortland County Sheriff’s Office report.

The report stated that Allen Osborn, 23 of Freetown, allegedly stole a cell phone out of the victim’s hands at a residence in the town of Freetown.

Osborn proceeded to drive the victim to Hoxie Gorge Road in the town of Cortlandville, where he “choked and engaged in a physical altercation” with the victim, the report noted.

The report continued that Osborn left the victim on Hoxie Gorge Road and drove away.

Osborn was charged with fourth-degree larceny (a Class-E Felony) in Freetown, along with third-degree assault (a Class-A Misdemeanor) and second-degree strangulation (a Class-D Felony) in Cortlandville.

Osborn was arraigned and released. He is slated to appear in the Freetown and Cortlandville town courts on Jan. 25.
