Your Cortland County weather forecast for Monday, January 16, 2023:

High pressure will be in control of the weather today but will be departing from the region.

Skies are expected to be sunny for much of the day. A few stray lake effect clouds will be possible this morning, and thin clouds will start to move in towards sunset. Otherwise, it should be blue sky and sunshine.

Winds will be from the north and northwest today with speeds of 5-10 mph. Top gusts should be just over 20 mph.

Temperatures will remain on the cooler side, relative to the last few weeks. Relative to the seasonal averages, it will be just a touch above average with highs in the low and mid 30s.

Tonight, clouds will increase and thicken and a few spits of precipitation will be possible during the predawn hours, but most of that should hold off until later Tuesday morning.

Evening temperatures will drop into the low and mid 20s with some locally colder pockets. Temperatures will steady and possibly even rise a few degrees after midnight.

Tuesday: Cloudy with rain showers, possibly mixing with a little ice early. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Wednesday: Cloudy with rain showers in the morning and flurries in the afternoon. Temperatures steady in the mid 30s throughout the day.

Thursday: Breezy. Cloudy with some late rain, possibly starting with a little mixed precipitation. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Friday: Windy. Scattered snow showers. Morning temperatures in the upper 30s. Afternoon temperatures retreating to the low 30s.
