A father and son were arrested after they allegedly attacked an individual in a town in Cortland County, according to a Cortland County Sheriff’s Office report.

Carmen J. Sarno, 28, and Carmen A. Sarno, 56 – both of Syracuse – were in the midst of a “physical altercation” with an individual at an event center in the town of Virgil, the report stated.

During the altercation, the victim was allegedly struck with an object that caused a deep cut to the victim’s head, which resulted in immediate medical attention.

The father and son turned themselves in on Tuesday. They were both arrested and charged with second-degree assault (a Class-D Felony) and fifth-degree conspiracy (a Class-A Misdemeanor).

Both were arraigned, released and are now set to appear in Virgil town court on Feb. 28.
