Cortland County COVID-19 wrap-up for Saturday, Jan. 21 (New Information Included)

Here is a breakdown of recent COVID-19 numbers in Cortland County. It is based on recorded information from the Cortland County Health Department and the New York State Department of Health.

The county health department reported on Friday that the level of COVID-19 transmission in the county has risen from low to medium. This is due to the highly contagious and increased spread of the Omicron subvariant XBB.1.5 across the state.

As of Jan. 20, there have been 13,149 total positive cases, 865 hospitalizations and 134 deaths in the county. According to the state, the current daily average of positive tests among county residents is 4.8%. The weekly average of cases per 100K is 9.0.

The recent percentage of county residents fully vaccinated that are 5 years-or-older is 61.2%. Additional numbers show that 60.9% of county residents are fully vaccinated with a booster shot.
