Shifting winds will bring a few snow showers into the area, but most of the day will be quiet.

The best chance for snow will be this morning as winds turn to the southwest. This wind shift will take some snow showers off Lake Ontario and pivot them northward, though the Finger Lakes. A few of these snow showers may make it all the way into Cortland County.

Little to no accumulation is expected from any of these snow showers, and some places may not see any snow at all.

Otherwise, it will be a mostly cloudy day. There will be a narrow window for a few breaks of sunshine immediately behind the lake effect and before widespread clouds build in from the west.

If the sun does manage to come out, it will only be for a couple brief glimpses.

It will remain cloudy into the evening and overnight with some more light snow showers, this time from a small disturbance, moving in after midnight.

High temperatures this afternoon will make it into the low 30s. Evening temperatures will drop to the low and mid 20s, but then may rise a few degrees by sunrise Saturday.

Winds during the daytime hours will be light with speeds near or under 5 mph. This evening, the wind will turn more southerly and increase to near 10 mph with gusts to 25 mph, especially over higher terrain.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Saturday: Cloudy with a few morning flurries. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Sunday: Cloudy with some rain and snow showers. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs near 40.

Monday: Cloudy with some rain showers turning over to snow late. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Tuesday: A few scattered lake effect snow showers. Morning lows in the low 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 20s.
