Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (February 6th)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Monday’s events:

Varsity Boys Basketball: Marathon vs. Moravia

The Marathon Olympians fell to a 5-11 record after losing to Moravia with a score of 50-63. 

Marathon was led by Conor Holland (19 points) and Bryce Hartman (12 points). 

Moravia was led by Abram Wasileski (10 points), Kyle Proper (9 points), Drew Nye (8 points), and Logan Bell (8 points). 

Marathon’s next game will be played at home against Trumansburg Central this Friday (February 10th) at 7:15 pm. 

Varsity Boys Basketball: Cortland vs. Central Square

The Cortland Purple Tigers lost against Central Square with a score of 35-53 Monday night. 

With this loss, Cortland has fallen to an overall record of 4-12. 

Cortland was led by Ben McGrath (13 points) and Marvin Bell (12 points).

Central Square was led by Shane Bergquist (20 points) and Colin Kees (14 points). 

Up next, Cortland will play Fulton tonight (Tuesday, February 7th) at 6:45pm. 

Varsity Girls Basketball: McGraw vs. Morrisville-Eaton

The McGraw Lady Eagles lost a close game against Morrisville-Eaton with a score of 25-29. 

McGraw was led by Lexi McCall (7 points) and Hannah Wilson (6 points).

With this loss, McGraw now holds a 1-11 record. 

McGraw is now scheduled to play their last game of the regular season against Stockbridge Valley on Thursday (February 9th) at 7pm. 

Varsity Girls Volleyball: McGraw vs. Faith Heritage

The McGraw Eagles lost in three sets against Faith Heritage on the road Monday night. 

This was McGraw’s last scheduled game of the season. 

With this loss, McGraw ended their season with an overall record of 2-13.
