The Cortland varsity girls basketball team has now gone seven-straight weeks appearing in the New York State Sportswriters Association’s rankings.

Despite dropping from No. 19 to No. 23 in this week’s Class B state poll, the Lady Purple Tigers are sporting a 15-4 record and poised for a high seed in this year’s Class B tournament. Cortland was previously ranked 19th in the state for two weeks in a row.

The other Section III Class B teams state-ranked are General Brown at No. 6 and Westhill at No. 24.

Cortland, currently winners of eight of its last nine games, knocked off Fulton by a score of 64-42 on Tuesday. The Tigers will cap their regular season with a home game against East Syracuse at 6:45 p.m. Friday.
