An area of low pressure will move into the Great Lakes and then across southern Canada today.

An influx of warmer air, followed by a cold front, will keep precipitation in the area today.

Almost all of what falls today will be rain, but there is a narrow window for some freezing rain this morning. Pockets of icy will make for some localized slick spots through the mid-morning. Higher elevations are the most likely to see some ice.

The rain will be on and off throughout the day and into the evening hours. Rain amounts will be modest, coming in around a quarter of an inch.

Winds will increase this morning from the southeast, turning to the south for the afternoon and then southwest during the evening.

Wind speeds will be strongest during the afternoon and nighttime, with speeds approaching 15 mph and gusts of 30-40 mph. The higher elevations will be the most prone to the strongest gusts.

Temperatures will rise to the low 40s this afternoon, and then into the mid or even upper 40s this evening. After midnight, cooler air will work in behind the cold front, sending temperatures to the mid 30s by dawn.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Friday: More clouds than sun. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy with a few flurries. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Sunday: Sunny, maybe with a few clouds. Morning lows in the low 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Monday: A mix of sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.
