High pressure will build into the region today, shifting winds and increasing sunshine.

This morning, northwest winds will be in place. Coming in off Lake Ontario, these winds will bring clouds and some small bands of lake effect snow. Locally up to an inch may fall, but most areas will see just a light dusting this morning.

The snow showers will dissipate during the morning, and clouds will begin to vacate this afternoon as winds begin to turn.

The wind direction over Lake Ontario will shift before it does in Cortland County, so the cloud dissipation will begin even as northwest winds linger. The wind will eventually turn to the west, and southwest.

Wind speeds will drop from around 10 mph in the morning to nearly calm in the afternoon.

Clear skies should eventually take over during the afternoon with highs in the mid 30s.

The wind will continue to shift tonight, ending up from the south wind speeds back over 5 mph overnight. These winds will balance the clear skies, resulting in overnight lows in the mid 20s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Sunday: Sunshine and some occasional thin clouds. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Monday: A mix of clouds and some sun. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Tuesday: Lots of sunshine. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Wednesday: Breezy and warm with some scattered rain showers. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.
