A man was arrested last week after he drove a vehicle without a license and was found to be in possession of over $5,000 worth of cocaine, according to a Cortland County Sheriff’s Office report.

The report stated that officers from the Cortland County Drug Task Force conducted a traffic stop for Akil Gettys, 40 of Brooklyn, for an infraction. Aside from no driver’s license, Gettys was in possession of about two ounces of cocaine and an undisclosed amount of money.

According to the report, the cocaine is worth over $5,700.

Gettys was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (a Class-B Felony), and multiple vehicle and traffic offenses. He was arraigned and released on one’s own recognizance, and now due to appear in city court on March 1.

The report noted that the investigation is ongoing, with Gettys potentially facing further charges.
