Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Tuesday’s events:
Varsity Boys Basketball: Cortland vs. Jamesville-Dewitt

The Cortland Tigers won 47-36 against Jamesville-Dewitt in order to improve to a 6-14 overall record Tuesday night.
Cortland was led by Marvin Bell (14 points), Emerson Johnson (13 points), and Carter Baum (13 points).
Jamesville-Dewitt was led by Trent Hughes (18 points) and Ian Delpha (9 points).
Up next, Cortland will play in the first round of the Section III Class B playoff tournament against Oneida. Cortland’s first round playoff game will be played at home on Thursday (February 16th) at 7pm.

Varsity Boys Basketball: Cincinnatus vs. Stockbridge Valley

The Cincinnatus Lions improved to a 4-14 record after defeating Stockbridge Valley 52-44 at home Tuesday evening.
Cincinnatus was led by Tucker Latta (18 points), John Schuyler (15 points), and Canden Stafford (11 points).
Stockbridge Valley was led by Nick Hofmeister (12 points) and Seth McHugh (10 points).
Cincinnatus is now scheduled to play in the first round of the Section III Class D playoff tournament on the road against Town of Webb this Thursday (February 16th) at 7pm.

Varsity Boys Basketball: Homer vs. Cazenovia

The Homer Trojans lost 42-57 against Cazenovia Tuesday evening. With this loss, Homer fell to an overall record of 6-12.
Homer was led by Evan Butts (31 points) and Izaiah Beard (8 points), who were also both celebrated on senior night.
Cazenovia was led by Ben Bianco (26 points), Bobby Livingston (9 points), and Tanner Lawson (9 points).
Homer’s next game will be played on the road, as they take on Syracuse ITC in the first round of the Section III Class B playoff tournament on Thursday (February 16th) at 7pm.

Varsity Girls Basketball: Cincinnatus vs. Madison

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions won a close game against Madison with a score of 40-38 in order to improve their overall record to 7-10.
Cincinnatus was led by Cortney Scutt (15 points), Justice Crane (13 points), and JuShawna Crane (8 points).
Madison was led by Mackenzie Cotter (16 points) and Carmyn Parmon (16 points).
Up next, Cincinnatus will play in the first round of the Section III Class D playoff tournament against Belleville-Henderson on the road on Friday (February 17th) at 6pm.

Varsity Girls Basketball: Homer vs. Marathon

The Marathon Lady Olympians defeated Homer after a close game with a score of 59-49 at Homer High School Tuesday night.
Marathon was led by Abby Ensign (23 points), Anna Hoyt (9 points), and Catherine Newkirk (9 points).
Homer was led by Catherine Apker (25 points) and Kaylee Darling (10 points).
With the result, Marathon improved to an 11-9 record, while Homer fell to 7-13.
Up next, Homer will play on the road against Clinton in the first round of the Section III Class B sectional tournament this Thursday (February 16th) at 6pm. Marathon awaits to see who they will be playing in the first round of their Section IV Class D tournament. According to Section IV, there will be a seeding meeting tonight (February 15th) at 7pm.

Varsity Boys Volleyball: Cincinnatus vs. Westmoreland

The Cincinnatus Lions fell to an 0-11 record after losing in three sets to Westmoreland.
Cincinnatus was led by Colton Maroney (9 kills, 2 aces, 2 assists, 2 blocks & 1 dig) and Dom Landers (5 kills, 10 assists, 4 digs & 1 ace).
Westmoreland was led by Carter McGregor (8 aces, 3 kills & 2 assists) and Jeremy Riggles (11 aces, 1 kill, 1 assist & 1 dig).
Cincinnatus is now scheduled to play at home this Thursday (February 16th) against Mount Markham at 5:30pm.
