A weather system will influence the weather in our region today and will gradually usher in some changes.

Each phase of the day, morning, afternoon, and nighttime, will have noticeably different weather conditions as this system moves through.

This morning, skies will be increasingly cloudy, but no precipitation is expected. Winds will be light, and temperatures will steadily climb through the 40s. By the early afternoon hours, a few places could be around 50 degrees.

By the mid-afternoon, though, rain will begin to move into the region. The rain will be widespread, but generally light. Temperatures will fall as the rain begins, ending up in the mid 40s for much of the afternoon.

The steady rain will move east by the early evening hours, and south winds will begin to pick up. Temperatures will again rise to around or even above 50 degrees.

Rain showers will increase during the late evening and overnight. A few heavier downpours and maybe even a rumble of thunder will be possible through the overnight.

Eventually, during the predawn hours, a cold front will work through and temperatures will begin to fall. By dawn Friday, rain showers may be turning over to some light snow as temperatures fall through the 30s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Friday: Morning snow showers. Cloudy. Temperatures drop to the mid 30s near dawn, then continue to drop to the mid 20s in the afternoon.

Saturday: Sunny with a few occasional clouds. Morning lows in the mid 10s. Afternoon highs near 40.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Monday: Cloudy with some rain showers, ending with some flurries. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.
