Cortland-Homer ice hockey loses OT heartbreaker in sectional semis (Photos Included)

The second-seeded Cortland-Homer ice hockey team lost a 4-3 heartbreaker in overtime to third-seeded CBA/J-D in the Section III Division II semifinal round on Tuesday.

The game was knotted at 2-2 after the second period, but the Golden Eagles notched a goal midway through the third for a 3-2 advantage.

Cortland-Homer maintained its lead all the way until the 15-second mark in regulation. CBA/J-D proceeded to tie it at 3-3, then needed just 30 seconds in OT to snatch a victory from the Golden Eagles to move on to Monday’s sectional final against top-seeded Skaneateles.

Andrew Partigianoni finished with two assists for the Golden Eagles, tying Jake Plunkett for the most career individual points in the program’s history (178).

Mitchell Riter, who had two goals on the night, recorded the 50th goal of his career. Hunter Everle chipped in a goal, while Chris Yang contributed two assists. Goalie Garret Clark stopped 20 shots.
