Village of Homer officials are asking residents to fill out a confidential income survey that will be mailed out in the coming weeks.

Village mayor Hal McCabe said at Tuesday’s Board of Trustees meeting that G&G Municipal Consulting & Grant Writing, a firm that aids municipalities in the grant application process, will distribute a letter and a survey to village residents.

McCabe noted the information gathered from the surveys will assist the village in applying for grants and loans.

“This is to ensure we get the best grant funding that we can get,” he said, noting the survey is “completely” anonymous.

The village conducted an income survey a few years ago. It helped the village lock in a zero-interest loan for the ongoing sewer project.

Depending on the grant or loan, if the medium income is at or below a certain threshold, the village qualifies for hardship status and better rates, McCabe said.

The surveys will be sent back to G&G consulting as a non-descriptive letter with a code replacing a residents’ address. Details on how to send back a filled-out survey are included in the letter.
