The Cortland Voice received an exclusive look, inside and out, at Cayuga Health’s new physician office building in the city of Cortland.

Located at 260 Tompkins St., the building will officially open this upcoming Monday.

“It’s an exciting time for the Cayuga Health system, as well as Cortland and the surrounding communities,” Dr. Michael Berlin, a practicing physician and chief strategy officer for Cayuga Health. “This is the physical manifestation of our commitment to this community.”

The new location will consolidate a number of Cayuga Health’s Cortland and Homer locations, and offer a “new level of convenience and efficiency,” noted in a release.

“We are excited about this brand-new facility and all the benefits for our patients in the Cortland area,” said Dr. Martin Stallone, president and CEO for Cayuga Health. “We are always striving to improve the level of service we offer, and we anticipate the Tompkins Street location will do just that by offering an improved care model.”

The facility will house Cayuga Health’s various primary care options, including integrated behavioral health services, cardiology, neurology, surgery, pulmonology, occupational medicine, sleep practices, lab services and ears, nose and throat (ENT).

“Cayuga Health is committed to delivering high-quality care that is accessible and affordable, but we’re also committed to delivering that care in a person-centered, safe and comfortable environment,” Berlin said.

Cayuga Health’s new facility will also have new features in modern technology, including computers in all exam rooms connected to streamlined medical records; and kiosks and mobile check-in for patients to have a more efficient check-in and check-out experience.

“We’re looking forward to a fresh and updated space in a modern facility,” said Jeff Penoyer, Cayuga Health’s chief operating officer of ambulatory services. “Having these services all under one roof better accommodates referrals to specialists, and those specialists working together for the best patient care.”

Other practices – including Cayuga Orthopedics’ Cortland office and walk-in care, Cayuga sports medicine, and pain management – will remain at their Commons Avenue location.
