Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, March 5, 2023:

A small wave of atmospheric energy will ripple through the region today with clouds and a few spits of precipitation.

The precipitation will be most likely this morning and into the midday hours. Both flurries and some light rain showers will be possible. There may even be a few patches of freezing drizzle early this morning.

As precipitation turns to mostly rain showers this afternoon, it will diminish and become even more sporadic in nature.

A few breaks of sunshine may work their way through the overcast late this afternoon with more a more substantial breaking up of the clouds during the evening and overnight hours.

Winds will be from the southwest at around 5 mph this morning. By the afternoon, the wind will turn to the northwest and increase to around 10 mph. Top gusts should be under 25 mph.

Temperatures will rise to a high in the upper 30s and low 40s. The northern half of the county is more likely to stick in the 30s, while southern areas should be able to at least hit 40 degrees.

Tonight, temperatures will drop back to around 30 degrees in the evening and into the mid 20s overnight. New clouds will move in just before dawn.

Monday: Mostly cloudy. Some nighttime snow possible. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Tuesday: Scattered snow showers. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 20s.

Wednesday: Cloudy with a few flurries. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs in the upper 20s.

Thursday: Cloudy with a few flurries. Morning lows in the low 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 20s.
