A Town of Willet man allegedly strangled an individual in the midst of a “physical altercation,” according to a Cortland County Sheriff’s Office report.

The report stated that county sheriff’s officers responded to the Town of Cincinnatus for a call about an individual who had been assaulted in Willet.

Michael R. Lum, Jr. 29, who was arrested and charged with second-degree strangulation (a Class-D Felony) and third-degree assault (a Class-A Misdemeanor), engaged in a “physical altercation” with an individual.

The report noted a warrant for Lum’s arrest was issued by the Willet town court.

Lum was arraigned and is currently being held at Cortland County Jail on a $2,500 cash bail, $5,000 bond and a $10,000 security bond. He is due to appear in Willet town court on April 6.

The County Sheriff’s Office did not provide further information beyond the report. The Cortland Voice will publish updates once they have been received.
