Cooler temperatures will be in place today behind a cold front last night.

Southwest winds are bringing in the cooler air, which is wrapping around the backside and into the center of low pressure over eastern Canada.

Temperatures will top out in the mid 30s this afternoon, which is not too far below the typical mid-March temperatures.

Skies will be a mix of sun and clouds through the morning and much of the afternoon. The southwest winds will keep any lake effect snow showers outside of the region.

Later this afternoon, a secondary cold front will move through. This will give winds a more westerly direction.

Wind speeds will be under 10 mph in the morning, but will increase to around 10 mph for the afternoon, evening, and overnight.

Some scattered snow showers and perhaps a brief squall will be possible along and behind the front. These will persist into the evening and overnight hours.

A few localized pockets, especially over higher terrain, could see an inch or so of accumulation.

Nighttime temperatures will drop back into the mid and upper 10s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Sunday: Windy and chilly. Mostly cloudy with an occasional snow showers or brief snow burst. Morning lows in the mid 10s.  Afternoon highs in the mid 20s.

Monday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the mid 10s.  Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny until some late clouds. Morning lows in the mid 10s.  Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.
