A man was arrested recently for keeping a female victim from calling 911 for an emergency, according to a Cortland County Sheriff’s Office report.

The report stated that county sheriff’s officers responded to a residence in the town of Taylor following a 911 hangup.

Officers discovered that Nathan R. Jordan, 35, got into a physical altercation with the victim.

The victim attempted to call 911 for emergency assistance, but Jordan physically disabled the phone to cut the victim off from calling authorities.

Jordan was arrested and charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, a Class-A Misdemeanor. He was arraigned, released and now due to appear in Taylor town court on April 19.

The county sheriff’s office did not provide further information beyond the report.
