Cortland Common Council unanimously voted to authorize city police to purchase a new tactical response unit (TCU) vehicle at its meeting on Tuesday.
The new TCU vehicle will replace city police’s 2007 Ford F350 Econo Van, which was described in Tuesday’s agenda as showing its age and being in poor condition.
City police auctioned off its old TCU vehicle and received $8,300, which will be put towards a new TCU vehicle. The Common Council appropriated an additional $40,000 for the purchase, which will appear in the city police’s budget line under “operating equipment.”
Cortland mayor Scott Steve noted at Tuesday’s meeting that city police have a few options in mind for its new TCU vehicle and will make a decision soon.
