Today will be a cool, cloudy day behind the low pressure system that brought rain and snow to the area yesterday.

Clouds will be plentiful this morning and a stray rain shower or snow flurry will be possible. Most areas will probably not see any precipitation, though.

During the afternoon, clouds will remain, but may break up some. Glimpses of sunshine are expected from time to time, but skies will not clear out substantially until around or after midnight.

A light northwest wind will blow with speeds of 5-10 mph. The strongest winds will come during the afternoon, and a few gusts may reach 25 mph.

After sunset, the winds will become more westerly, with a gradual turn to the southwest after midnight.

Temperatures today will be near or just below average with a high in the low 40s. A few of the hilltops may struggle to get much beyond 40 degrees.

It will be a quick drop through the 30s this evening with temperatures entering the 20s just a few hours after sunset. Overnight lows should make it down into the low 20s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Wednesday: Early sun, then increasing clouds. Some light nighttime snow. Morning lows in the low 20s.  Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Thursday: Some early clouds. Otherwise, quite a bit of sunshine. Morning lows in the low 20s.  Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Friday: Mostly cloudy with occasional rain showers. Morning lows in the mid 20s.  Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Saturday: Windy with showers and possibly a few thunderstorms. Morning lows in the upper 40s.  Afternoon highs at least near 60.
