Former United States President Donald Trump was officially indicted by a Manhattan grand jury on Thursday.

Trump is the first president in U.S. history to be indicted. As of Friday, grand jury details surrounding the reasoning of the indictment remain to be seen. However, it stems from alleged payments made during the 2016 presidential campaign to keep claims quiet of Trump’s extramarital sexual encounter with porn actor Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal.

Joseph Tacopina, one of Trump’s defense attorneys, stated that Trump is likely to turn himself in on Tuesday.

“(Trump) did not commit any crime,” Trump’s defense attorneys said in a statement. “We will vigorously fight this political prosecution in court.”
