The annual CNY Maple Festival queen pageant this year will have more than 10 contestants competing to be crowned Maple Queen.
The pageant, entering its 51st year, will take place at 7:30 p.m. next Friday at the Marathon High School auditorium. Twelve students from the Marathon Central School District will be competing in this year’s pageant.
This year’s Maple Queen winner and her court will serve as ambassadors during Maple Festival weekend, which is slated for April 15-16. The group will also make appearances in Marathon and Cortland County throughout the year.
Lillian Penrose, who will host this year’s Maple Queen pageant, was last year’s Maple Queen. Brooke Tillotson and Alanna Jamison were the respective runners-up, while Delta Barber was named Miss Congeniality.

The Maple Queen pageant has been a tradition in the Marathon area since 1971.
