Today will be the chilliest day of the week as the core of the cold air mass behind yesterday’s cold fronts moves through the area.

The cool, moist air will lead to plenty of cloud cover today and occasional rain showers. It will not rain all day, but it will spit on and off throughout the day. Early this morning, and tonight, some of this will fall as snow showers.

Temperatures will slowly rise today, only reaching a high in the mid 40s. This is about ten degrees below average for mid-April.

Winds will be out of the southwest at up to 10 mph. Top gusts on the day should be around 25 mph.

After sunset, temperatures will drop back into the 30s, changing most of the rain over to snow. Overall, though, the precipitation should begin to gradually decline. No more than a light dusting of snow is expected in some isolated areas.

Temperatures will bottom out overnight around 30 degrees with pockets of upper 20s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy. Maybe an early flurry or shower. Some late sun. Morning lows around 30. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Thursday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a morning shower. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.

Friday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Saturday: Breezy with rain eventually moving in. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.
