Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, April 21, 2023:

Warm air will surge into the region today as the front that developed overhead yesterday lifts far to the north.

Temperatures will shoot up this morning, reaching the 70s before noon and topping out around or just above 80 degrees.

The warm air will be fueled by increasing southwest winds that will reach speeds slightly over 10 mph. Afternoon gusts could be as high as 30 mph.

Also contributing will be a fair bit of sunshine. Some clouds will mix in, especially later in the day. A few showers or thunderstorms may pop up in the very late afternoon and early evening hours.

Before that, the atmosphere will be very dry and susceptible to brush fires with relative humidity values around 25 percent at their lowest.

Skies will become overcast during the nighttime hours with light and variable winds eventually consolidating to a southeast wind.

Evening temperatures will drop to around 60 degrees with overnight lows in the mid 50s.

Sunday: A few rain showers. Not as windy. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Monday: Clouds, some sun, and a few showers. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Tuesday: Clouds, some sun, and a few showers. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.
