Low pressure will approach the region today, but rain should hold off until late.

Thin clouds spread into the region overnight. Some filtered sunshine will be possible during the first half of the morning before these clouds thicken further.

The rest of the day will be cloudy and dim, but the high pressure system that was overhead yesterday will work hard to keep the rain at bay.

Eventually, showers will make it in from the southwest, but probably not until after 5 or 6 PM. Widespread light rain is then likely through the evening and overnight hours.

A southeast wind will blow today ahead of this weather system. Wind speeds will be as high as 10 mph and gusts may reach 25 mph.

Temperatures will be close to the seasonal averages with highs in the upper 50s. Mid 40s are expected this evening with the rain. Temperatures will only drop a couple more degrees through the night for lows in the low 40s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Saturday: Morning showers. Less rain in the afternoon. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Sunday: Occasional rain showers transitioning to a steady, heavier rain late. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.

Monday: Rain showers. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Tuesday: Rain showers. Morning lows in the upper 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.
