Low pressure will lift north into eastern New York today, bringing plenty of rainfall and the possibility of some minor flooding.

Rain will be falling for much of the day but will be the heaviest during the early morning hours and throughout the mid to late afternoon.

During these times, both the overall intensity of the rain will be higher, as will the chances for localized downpours. The rest of the day will have lighter rains, and this evening the rain will come to an end.

In all, widespread rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches are likely, but isolated amounts upwards of 3 inches will be possible.

This will lead to the potential for some basement flooding, poor drainage ponding, and rises on small streams.

Temperatures will top out in the mid 50s this afternoon. Low 50s will remain into the early evening before a cold front produces a quick drop to the mid 40s. By Monday morning, it will be down to around 40 degrees.

Daytime winds will be from the southeast at around 10 mph. Top gust should be around 25 mph but may briefly be higher as the cold front moves in during the evening.

Behind the front, winds will turn to the west, then southwest, during the overnight hours. Wind speeds should stay around 10 mph.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Monday: Scattered showers. Morning lows near 40. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Tuesday: Scattered showers. Maybe some snow, graupel, or hail mixing in. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Wednesday: Scattered showers. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Thursday: Scattered showers. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.
