Varsity Softball: Cincinnatus secures county rivalry win against McGraw (photos included)

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions defeated the McGraw Lady Eagles in a Cortland County rivalry game with a score of 17-2. 

“We had a little of a slow start,” said Cincinnatus head coach Mikayla Gates. “The girls felt a little flat, but they then picked everything up and started to rally.” 

Cincinnatus’ runs were scored by Madison Stover (3 runs), Kayle Brenchley (2 runs), Payton Gerrard (2 runs), Lucy Finch (2 runs), Gabby Taylor (2 runs), Jamber Aiken (2 runs), Jarisa Temple (2 runs), Piper Landers (1 run), and Mandi Waltz (1 run). 

Kayle Brenchley also threw a total of 8 strikeouts in the game. 

McGraw’s runs were scored by Haylee Bassett (1 run) and Katelynn Millard (1 run).

“The girls have been doing really well,” stated coach Gates. “I am proud of the way the girls have been pushing. We were coming from a loss against Hamilton, so I think today was the confidence booster they needed for the rest of the season.”

With this result, Cincinnatus improved to a 9-3 overall record, while McGraw fell to an overall record of 2-11. 

Up next, Cincinnatus is scheduled to take on Otselic Valley on the road this upcoming Monday (May 8th) at 4:30pm; while McGraw also hits the road to play Stockbridge Valley at 4:30pm on Monday May 8th.
