Marathon spring sports teams qualify for sectionals

A handful of Marathon varsity spring sport teams qualified for their respective Section IV tournaments.

The 8th-seeded Olympians softball squad (7-10) will compete in the Section IV Class D tournament. Marathon is scheduled to host 9th-seeded Richfield Springs (8-7) at 4:30 p.m. Thursday (May 18th) in the opening round of the tournament.

The winner of Thursday’s opening softball contest will face top-seeded Deposit-Hancock (17-2) at 4:30 p.m. May 23 in the next round.

The Marathon varsity boy golfers are slated to compete in the sectional team tournament at The College Golf Course at Delhi starting at 9 a.m. this upcoming Monday (May 22nd).

As for the Olympians varsity girls golfers, the team will be represented by Savanna Warfield, Abby Ensign, Audrey Ensign, Anna Hoyt, and Elizabeth VanCise at sectionals. The sectional girls golf tournament will begin at 9 a.m. May 25 at the Soaring Eagles Golf Course in Horseheads.

The sectional girls golf tournament will be scored as a team and individually.
