The No.4 seeded Cortland Purple Tigers won in the quarterfinal round of the Section III Class B playoff tournament against No.5 seeded Camden. Cortland won the game with a score of 8-4 at the Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex Thursday evening.
The Purple Tigers took an early 6-0 lead by the end of the fourth inning.
Camden scored their first two runs of the game at the top of the fifth, but Cortland answered right back at them by scoring two runs of their own at the bottom of the same inning.
Cortland’s defense then held Camden to just two additional runs to win the game.

Camden was led by Tyler Skinner (1 run & 1 hit), Sean Seymore (1 run & 1 hit), Josh Plumley (1 run & 1 hit), Connor MacArthur (1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Garrett Wines (1 hit & 1 RBI), Brian Gonzalez (1 run), Ryan Leos (1 hit), Adam Gonzalez (1 hit), Jayvin Smith (1 RBI).
Cortland pitchers Luke Rogoff and Owen Johnson combined to throw a total of 3 strikeouts from the mound. Rogoff threw 2 strikeouts and Owen Johnson threw 1 strikeout.
The Purple Tigers will be back in action this Saturday (May 27th), as they play in the semifinal round of the sectional tournament against No.9 seeded Skaneateles. The game will be played at Onondaga Community college, and it will begin at 1pm.
