High pressure over New England will continue to keep a dissipating low pressure system over the southern Appalachians at bay.

As these two opposite pressure systems interact, our winds today will be from the east and northeast. Wind speeds will remain low, at or around 5 mph, and gusts will be around 15 mph.

Typically, these winds would lead to some cooling, but since the atmosphere has gotten blocked up from these two systems over the last several days, that will not be the case.

Temperatures will rise into the low, possibly mid 80s this afternoon.

Bountiful sunshine will dominate with just a few small, puffy afternoon fair weather clouds possible. No rain will fall.

Skies will be clear tonight with winds swinging around to the southeast. Nighttime winds will pick up a bit, with speeds getting closer to 10 mph at times.

Temperatures in the evening will slowly drop through the 60s. Once the wind shifts, cooler air will move in, sending overnight lows to the low 50s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Tuesday: Sun and a few afternoon clouds. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs around 80.

Wednesday: Sun and a few afternoon clouds. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Thursday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Friday: Sun and clouds. Very small chance for a stray shower. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.
