County Police Blotter: Larcenies, Thefts and DWI

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office recently made four arrests between this past Sunday and Tuesday.

The arrests included larceny, theft and driving-while-intoxicated charges.

Bambi L. Lackner

Lackner, 46 of the village of Freeville, was arrested on Sunday evening.

According to the arrest report, Lackner allegedly stole merchandise from the Walmart store in the town of Cortlandville. The report stated that she allegedly removed the product from its packaging and concealed it in a bin.

Lackner was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and petit larceny (Both Class-A Misdemeanors). (Editor’s Note: larceny is theft of property or article that is not taken by force and violence or by fraud).

She was processed, arraigned, released and now due to appear in Cortlandville town court on June 12.

Richard A. Gutierrez

Gutierrez, 61 of the town of Cortlandville, was arrested on Monday evening.

According to the arrest report, Gutierrez allegedly stole merchandise from the Walmart store in the town of Cortlandville. 

Gutierrez was charged with petit larceny – a Class-A Misdemeanor. (Editor’s Note: larceny is theft of property or article that is not taken by force and violence or by fraud).

He was processed, arraigned, released and now due to appear in Cortlandville town court on June 12.

Randy S. Mercier

Mercier, 42 of the village of McGraw, was arrested late Monday evening.

According to the arrest report, Mercier was charged with DWI (a misdemeanor) and refusal of a breath screening test (an infraction).

Mercier was arraigned Tuesday morning, processed, released and now due to appear in Cortlandville town court on June 5.

Logan J. Case

Case, 25 of Cortland, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the arrest report, Case accepted a taxi ride but did not pay for it.

Case was charged with theft of services – a Class-A Misdemeanor. (Editor’s Note: theft of services is when a person obtains valuable services by deception, force or other unlawful means).

Case was processed, arraigned, released and now due to appear in Cortlandville town court on June 12.
