There will be several concerns in the weather today as wildfire smoke remains in place and humid, unsettled air returns to the region.

Winds in the atmosphere have turned southerly, but instead of clearing the smoke from our region, are simply importing pre-existing smoke in from the Ohio River Valley region.

Air quality will be reduced again today as a result and may be in the Unhealthy for all category at times. Be sure to monitor the current air quality to make appropriate decisions in real time.

Besides the hazy smoke, the morning will be quiet. However, during the afternoon, there will be a chance for some scattered showers and thunderstorms.

These will be most likely in the mid to late afternoon hours. Most of the activity should dissipate quickly as the sun sets, with a mainly quiet evening and overnight.

Not all areas will necessarily see rain today, though it is possible that the storms organize into a cluster or line that brings rain throughout the region.

Temperatures will work their way into the low 80s this afternoon. This is several degrees cooler than it would be without the smoke. Dewpoints will push into the 60s, making it feel quite muggy again.

Muggy air and at least partially smoky skies will persist tonight with lows making it into the low 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Saturday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs near 80.

Sunday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs near 80.

Monday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs near 80.

Tuesday: Scattered showers, especially early. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.
