Attention will shift today from smoke and poor air quality to showers and thunderstorms with gusty winds and heavy downpours.
Some lingering smoke will be possible through the morning hours, but smoke concentrations should be less than the last few days and the air quality should be improving.
A few stray showers may dot the area through the mid-morning hours before several hours of quiet weather. Skies will become a mix of clouds and some breaks of sun.
During the mid-afternoon hours, showers and thunderstorms should develop to our west. These will then move east-southeast toward our area, likely arriving in the late afternoon and early evening.
There are some questions as to how widespread and robust the activity will become. There may be a widespread line of showers or storms, or just a few scattered cells or clusters.
If a line of storms can organize, some locally strong to severe winds and small hail will be possible. Locally heavy rain will also be a hazard with some minor poor drainage flooding possible.
Thunderstorms will diminish this evening, though showers and even a thunderstorm will be possible overnight and especially in the predawn hours of Sunday morning.
Temperatures will rise to a high around 80 degrees this afternoon. Dewpoints will be well into the 60s, making it feel very muggy. Evening temperatures will only drop to around 70 degrees, with overnight lows in the mid 60s.
Areas of fog will be possible tonight, especially for any areas that see heavy rainfall.

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.
