New York State Police are warning residents of another credit card skimmer located in Cortland County.
The skimmer was located at Save A Lot Food on State Route 222 in Cortlandville. An employee noticed the skimmer on July 24, 2022. It was affixed to a register. The employee was making a purchase when he thought that the keys on the credit card machine looked different compared to the other machines. The employee pulled on the cover of the keypad and the skimming device came off.
A trooper observed that the device appears to have a keypad and a credit card scanner with a glue computer chip with what appears to be a cellphone battery on the underside.
