The start of the fall season is around the corner, which also begins the spread of respiratory viruses.

The Cortland County Health Department has provided steps to prevent the spread of common respiratory viruses, such as COVID-19, the flu, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The viruses usually spread through the fall and winter seasons.

Taking immediate actions can:

  • Prevent serious illness or death from COVID-19, Flu, and RSV
  • Prevent getting sick with respiratory viruses
  • And prevent spreading respiratory viruses to others if they do get sick

The county health department’s steps include getting vaccinated, getting tested (if sick), and notifying your healthcare provider of test results and getting treatment. Other steps include further preventions in getting sick and spreading it to others.
