Arrests for assault, drug possession and more (County Sheriff’s Blotter)

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office recently released reports that include arrests for assault, drug possession and more.

Below are the following arrests:

Christopher J. Fox

Fox, 22, of Freetown, was arrested on Sept. 2.

The county sheriff’s office report stated that Fox was allegedly involved in a physical altercation with an individual known to him.

According to the report, Fox allegedly threatened the victim with an object, proceeding to strike the victim “multiple times” with the object that caused injuries.

The report continued by saying that Fox allegedly damaged the victim’s property and wouldn’t let the victim leave the residence. This all occurred in the presence of two children, the report noted.

Fox was charged with second-degree assault (a Class-D Felony) and fourth-degree grand larceny (a Class-E Felony) – and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful imprisonment, fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon (all Class-A Misdemeanors).

Fox was arraigned, released and now due to appear in Freetown town court on Sept. 27.

Hope A. Eades

Eades, 48, of Cortland, was arrested on Sept. 2.

The county sheriff’s office report stated that Eades allegedly stole several items from the Walmart store in Cortlandville “without rendering payment.”

According to the report, Eades was allegedly found to be in possession of 15 glassine envelopes that contained fentanyl – and plastic baggies that contained fentanyl, alprazolam pills and an undisclosed amount of money.

Eades was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (a Class-B Felony), seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (a Class-A Misdemeanor) and petit larceny (a Class-A Misdemeanor).

Eades was arraigned, released and now due to appear in Cortlandville town court at 11 a.m. Monday.

Thomas W. Knapp

Knapp, 54, of Freetown, was arrested on a warrant on Sept. 1.

The county sheriff’s office report stated that authorities received a report of abuse allegations on July 3 (2023) at a residence in Freetown.

According to the report, Knapp allegedly subjected a victim to “inappropriate contact” in July. The report noted that the victim knows Knapp.

Knapp was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a Class-A Misdemeanor. He was released and now due to appear in Freetown town court on Sept. 27.

Bobbi N. Furman

Furman, 36, of Cortlandville, was arrested on Aug. 29.

The county sheriff’s office report stated that following an investigation regarding injuries to an infant, Furman failed to provide “adequate supervision,” resulting in the infant sustaining several injuries. This occurred under the entrusted care of Furman, the report noted.

Furman was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child (all Class-A Misdemeanors). She was released and now due to appear in Homer town court at a later date.

The report stated that the investigation is ongoing.

Christian D. Padua

Padua, 21, of the town of Marathon, was arrested on Tuesday (Sept. 5).

The county sheriff’s office report stated that Padua damaged a victim’s property at a residence in Marathon.

Padua was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, a Class-A Misdemeanor. He was arraigned, released and now due to appear in Marathon town court on Sept. 13.

Tori L. Homza

Homza, 27, of Freetown, was arrested on Sept. 2.

The county sheriff’s office report stated that officers checked the welfare of Homza in a parking lot of a local business. Homza was found to be in possession of a narcotic.

Homza was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class-A Misdemeanor. She was released and now due to appear in Cortlandville town court on Sept. 18.
