Street closures and various projects are in place this week in the city of Cortland.

According to Eric Mulvihil, Economic Development/Community Relations Specialist for the Cortland County Business Development Corporation (BDC), construction crews on Monday are working on installing storm sewer piping and connections at the Court Street/Main Street intersection.

This led to parts of the intersection being closed off, but Mulvihill noted he anticipates the intersection will be completely back open by the end of the day on Monday. Mulvihill added that Contento’s is removing asbestos piping in that area.

Orchard Street is also closed off due to vault work at the former Mullen’s Office Supplies building. Mulvihill said the closure of this street could be extended past Monday.

Other projects in Cortland this week include CCI Construction, Inc. installing new stormwater connections, at least, until Wednesday. Construction crews will conduct installations south on Main Street on the east side, Mulvihill said.

Projects on Main Street is the city’s continuation of its Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI). Cortland started working on projects last year.
