Man allegedly strangled victim; also resists arrest (County Sheriff)

A man was arrested after he allegedly strangled a victim, for resisting arrest and more, according to a report.

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office report stated that this past Sunday (Oct. 8), officers dispatched to a domestic disturbance incident on Penguin Drive in Cortlandville.

According to the report, Robert L. Benson, 48 of Cortlandville, allegedly strangled and then struck the victim “several times.” Benson also allegedly prevented the victim from calling 911 for help, the report continued.

The report noted that officers attempted to arrest Benson, but he “refused to comply with lawful orders” and resisted arrest.
