The top-seeded Cincinnatus Lady Lions won their second consecutive sectional title after beating 2nd-seed Bishop Ludden with a score of 1-0.

The Section III Class D championship game was played at SUNY Cortland on Saturday (October 28th).

After a scoreless first half with both sides having opportunities to score, Cincinantus and Bishop Ludden both continued to battle throughout the second half.

With about 2 minutes left in the second half and with the game looking like it was going to overtime, Cincinnatus freshman Payton Landers launched a perfect pass that got through Bishop Ludden’s defense for junior Cassia Schuyler to go head to head against Bishop Ludden’s goalkeeper Tatum Gilbertson.

Schuyler ended up getting past Gilbertson (Bishop Ludden’s goalkeeper) and scored the winning goal for Cincinnatus.

With less than 2 minutes to go, Bishop Ludden pushed all their troops forward to try to get a late goal.

However, the Lady Lion’s defense stood strong and denied Bishop Ludden any last minute chances.
