Today will be another mild day, but an incoming cold front will also bring widespread rain this afternoon.

The morning will be cloudy but dry out ahead of the front. Rain should arrive sometime in the mid afternoon. Once the rain arrives, it will fall steadily for the rest of the afternoon and into the evening hours.

Within the broader area of steady rain, there may be a narrow band of heavy downpours and gusty winds late in the afternoon or early in the evening. This will mark the passage of the cold front.

Ahead of the front, winds will be steadily from the south. Wind speeds may approach 15 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

These winds will push temperatures into the mid and upper 50s again this afternoon, even without the sunshine. Temperatures will remain mild around 50 degrees early this evening.

Once the front passes, however, winds will turn to the northwest and temperatures will begin to drop. By Saturday morning, it will be in the low 30s.

The steady rain will taper off late in the evening, but stray showers will continue after midnight. These may turn to some flurries by the predawn hours.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Saturday: Mostly cloudy with a few rain showers, mixing with some snow early. Morning lows in the low and mid 30s. Afternoon highs near 40.

Sunday: Cloudy with spits of rain and snow. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Monday: Sunny with a few clouds. Chilly. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Tuesday: Periods of rain. Potentially very windy. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.
