A large number of New York drivers could have their licenses suspended on Friday if they have not submitted their full vision test results, according to CBS News and the Department of Motor Vehicles.

CBS News noted that the state adopted a measure during the COVID-19 pandemic that allowed New York drivers to temporarily self-certify the vision test in order to renew their licenses.

According to the State Department of Motor Vehicles, if licenses expired between March 1, 2020 and Aug. 31, 2021 and renewed online by self-certifying vision but have not submitted a vision test to the DMV, licenses will be suspended this Friday (Dec. 1).

According to CBS News, as of Monday (Nov. 27) over 50,000 NYS drivers still have not submitted their vision tests to the DMV.

The deadline to complete a vision test at a DMV office expired this past Sunday (Nov. 26), but drivers can still submit tests online by clicking here.
