High pressure will be in firm control of our weather today.

This high will be centered over the Mid-Atlantic region today, while a second high approaches from the northwest as it moves across Canada.

Southwest winds around the first high will push milder air toward the region through the morning hours. Combined with sunny skies, this should push temperatures toward the mid and upper 30s this afternoon.

As the second high moves in, winds will turn to the west and northwest, but with little immediate impact on our weather.

Mostly clear skies are expected through the daytime hours and into the early evening.

As the second high continues to move in, winds will shift to the northeast. This will produce a subtle frontal boundary, which will increase clouds overnight. A few stray flurries may even fly, but with no accumulation expected.

Evening temperatures will dip into the upper 20s with overnight lows in the mid 20s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Thursday: Sunny with a few clouds. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 30s.

Friday: Sunny with some thin clouds, especially late. Morning lows in the mid 10s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Saturday: More clouds than sun. Perhaps a few stray showers. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Sunday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.
