Cortlandville Fire Department Responds to I-81 Accident (Press Release)

At approximately 7:40pm (on Sunday, January 14th), the Cortlandville Fire Department along with TLC-EMS, Cortland County Sheriff's Office and New York State Police were called to 81 northbound at mile marker 54 for a reported tractor trailer roll over blocking both lanes. As agencies were responding, they were advised that several vehicles may have struck the trailer.

Upon arrival, it was found that only one vehicle had struck the trailer. The passenger of that vehicle was transported to the hospital for evaluation of minor injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

Rte.81 NB was shut down down at the Exit 12 off ramp for the duration of the incident. Assisting the Cortlandville Fire Department was the City of Cortland and Homer Fire Departments, Cortland County Sheriff's Office, New York State Police, Homer Police Department, New York State DOT and TLC-EMS.

Rte.81 north bound will be reduced to 1 lane from the area of the exit 12 northbound off ramp to approximately the 55 mile marker while crews work to remove the trailer.
