Today will be the calm before the storm with snow expected to arrive around midnight tonight.

The daytime hours will be quiet and dry. Sunshine will mix with clouds, though overall, there will be more clouds than sun.

Clouds will thicken this evening and the first snow may start to fall around or even a bit before midnight.

Steady snow will be possible through the night and into Tuesday morning, making the morning commute slow and sloppy.

Winds will be nearly calm most of the day before turning to the north and northeast late in the afternoon and increasing to around 5 mph.

The wind will increase further after midnight, reaching speeds of near 10 mph during the predawn hours. These winds will still be from the northeast.

Temperatures will not be too cool today, though certainly not as warm as it was a few days ago. Look for afternoon highs to reach the upper 30s and low 40s.

Evening temperatures will quickly drop to the mid and low 30s with overnight lows in the mid 20s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Tuesday: Snow, possibly heavy in the morning. Some sun in the afternoon. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 30s.

Wednesday: Early clouds and flurries. Some late sun. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs in the mid 20s.
