A small weather system will drop into the area tonight, possibly bringing some squally weather.

Most of the daytime hours will turn out quiet across the region.

Morning clouds associated with a winter storm to our south will give way to some sunshine during the midday and afternoon hours.

Clouds will thicken again late and some snow showers may arrive as early as the hours around sunset.

Once nighttime has settled in, atmospheric conditions for snow squalls will increase. Bursts of heavy snow accompanied by strong winds will be possible.

Individual snow squalls will be brief but will reduce visibility and lead to rapidly worsening travel conditions. Accumulations should be limited to an inch or two through the overnight.

Snow squalls will diminish to flurries during the predawn hours.

Winds will be from the northwest and will gust as high as 30 mph during the day. Stronger gusts as high as 40 mph will accompany any snow squalls.

Temperatures will top out in the mid 30s this afternoon. A few northern hilltops may stay in the low 30s.

Evening temperatures will drop to near or slightly below 30 degrees, with overnight lows near 20 degrees.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Wednesday: Early clouds and flurries. Some late sun. Morning lows near 20. Afternoon highs in the mid 20s.

Thursday: Sunshine early, then increasing clouds with snow possible late. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Friday: More clouds than sun. Some scattered snow showers. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 20s.

Saturday: More clouds than sun. Some scattered snow showers. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs in the upper 20s.
