Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (February 13th)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Tuesday’s events:

Varsity Boys Basketball: Homer vs. Susquehanna Valley

The Homer Trojans ended the regular season with an overall record of 9-9 after beating Susquehanna Valley with a score of 72-48. 

Homer was led by Wyatt Wilbur (24 points), Tyler VanEtten (17 points), Kaden Durham (12 points), Danile Hartnett (8 points), Mitchell Earle (7 points), Max Franco (2 points), and Alex Voltra (2 points). 

Note: Susquehanna Valley’s stats were not made available by the time this article was written. 

According to Section III, there will be a sectional playoff tournament seeding meeting this upcoming Saturday (February 17th). 

Varsity Boys Basketball: Cortland vs. Skaneateles

The Cortland Purple Tigers lost 60-50 against Skaneateles on the road Tuesday night. 

Cortland was led by Cal Albright (13 points), Jaxson Gambitta (12 points), Owen Johnson (8 points), Damauri Bell (5 points), Caden Albright (5 points), Antonio Terrazas (4 points), and Ethan Johnson (3 points). 

Skaneateles was led by Reid Danforth (11 points), Finlay Coyne (11 points), Tyler Dell (11 points), Jack Peenstra (7 points), Carter Loi (6 points), Louis Richards (6 points), Charlie Girzadas (6 points), and Christian Cirincione (2 points). 

This was Cortland’s last game of the regular season, ending their season with an overall record of 4-16.

Varsity Ice Hockey: Cortland-Homer vs. Auburn

The Cortland-Homer Ice Hockey team lost to Auburn with a score of 3-4 Tuesday night. 

Cortland-Homer was led by Gabe O'Connor (2 goals & 1 assist), Cameron Fox (1 goal & 1 assist), Bodey McGrath (1 assist), Declan Vail (1 assist), and Jack Mederios (22 saves). 

Auburn was led by Ryan Maher (1 goal & 2 assist), Seamus Gentile-Ovens (2 goals), Jack Pineau (1 goal), Cal Maher (1 assist), Camden Connors (1 assist), Chris Tarby Jr. (1 assist), and Jonah Young (31 saves).  

With this loss, Cortland-Homer ended their regular season with an overall record of 3-18.
