A slow moving cold front will move into the region today, keeping our weather wet.

Rain showers will increase early this morning as the front creeps eastward. On and off showers will be likely through the morning and into the mid afternoon.

Late in the afternoon, low pressure along the eastern seaboard will throw extra moisture and energy toward the front. Rain showers will transition into a steady widespread rain as a result.

This steadier rain will continue through the evening and for much of the overnight. The precipitation will come to an end by sunrise, possibly with a few pockets of freezing rain. Most areas will not see ice, though.

Winds will be light from the south this morning and early in the afternoon out ahead of the front. As the front moves overhead late in the afternoon, winds will become nearly calm.

Behind the front this evening, winds will turn northerly with speeds of 5-10 mph through the night.

Temperatures today will reach a high in the mid 50s with evening temperatures retreating through the 40s. Most areas will see a low in the mid 30s with just a few cold pockets slipping below freezing.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Thursday: Clouds with some breaks of afternoon sun. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Friday: Morning sun. Increasing clouds in the afternoon. Morning lows near 30. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.

Saturday: Cloudy with late rain showers. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Sunday: Morning rain and snow, gradually tapering off in the afternoon. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.
